Brent Hyskell, a seasoned dance professional and owner of Atlantic Ballroom on Atlantic Blvd., is a veteran in the dance world for more than 25 years, mostly in Jacksonville, Florida.Brent competed professionally for more than five years and became United States Cabaret finalist. He also took third place at the Ohio Star Ball in 2000. His continued success has been taking several students to U. S. Championship titles.
Brent’s background is in Music Direction and Music Composition. He has been a business owner since 2004. Brent has a passion for people and dancing. He hopes that he is always an inspiration to his students to create and do well. His hobby is golfing, but most of all, he enjoys spending time with his children.
Teresa A. (Terry) Evans has been part of the ballroom dancing community in Northeast Florida for the past ten years. During this decade, she has represented Kaluby's Dance Club in several competitions throughout the Southeast and Caribbean. For the past nine years Terry has worked at the Kaluby's Dance Club where she plays a major role in support of the dance professionals and theorganizing of ballroom events.
Terry holds a BS degree in Political Science and History and a teaching certificate from the State of Florida. She is married to husband, Rich and has two adult children, Gina residing in Tampa and Rick living in Los Angeles.
Gabriela Ocipova Feeley
Born in Presov, Slovakia, Gabriela began dancing and competing at 8 years of age. She won numberous competitions across the country. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Management from Comenius University in Bratislava, Gabriela moved to the United States.
She began teaching for Fred Astaire Dance Studios where she won top teacher for most lessons taught in Florida two years in a row. Gabriela has taught ballroom dancing to young children for a non-profit organization. She believes that ballroom dancing should be introduced to children at an early age because it teaches etiquette, social and behavioral skills.
Now, Gabriela brings her infectious smile and top notch instruction to Atlantic Ballroom.
Michael was born in Pensacola, FL to military parents. This led to him living in many different places, such as Guam, Puerto Rico, Key West and Miami. He still has not seen snow! At the age of 8, he began his studies in the arts. He was enrolled in jazz dance and piano lessons. Having a preference towards music, he continued studying music ultimately landing at the University of Miami where he studied bass with Chuck Bergeron, Don Coffman and Matt Bonelli. Michael was selected to study at an intensive course with some of the most respected and well known bass players in the world, including Bob Moore, Victor Wooten, Gerald Veasely, Steve Bailey and Stanley Clarke.
Michael has traveled to many countries after having signed on to cruise ship entertainment. After which, he began teaching music lessons upon arriving in Jacksonville. His lessons varied from individual lessons to teaching the drumlines at the University of North Florida and Sun Devils Drum Corps.
Finding great joy in dancing, Michael has made the transition to teaching dance. He finds great joy and reward helping reach their goals.
